West Eden is pleased to announce Tradition is Broken, an exhibition of new work by spanish painter Armando Pons. On view from April 18th through May 26th 2024, the exhibition is Pon’s first exhibition in Thailand, after having shown in Spain for many years.
In his representation of flowers and mythological creatures, Armando Pons seeks to capture light and color reminiscent of the rich stained glass windows found in Gothic cathedrals. He views light as a divine symbol, representing the essence of creation. To achieve this effect, he employs a technique that mirrors the passage of light through glass, meticulously layering paint or oil glazes to harness its luminous qualities.
Armando Pons began his training at the Castellón School of Arts and Crafts, where he started drawing statues at the age of 12. Under the tutelage of Don Ramón Catalán, a veteran artist who held onto the essence of artistic tradition, he learned the fundamentals of drawing.
During those formative years, a casual art conversation sparked an irresistible curiosity in him. Upon returning home, he asked his mother to pose for a portrait and began intuitively painting with spots of color, allowing the eye to mix them on the retina. This experience marked a profound shift in his perception of painting, emphasizing the importance of light and color.
He firmly believes that art cannot exist without tradition. He advocates for direct, intuitive, and simple painting, emphasizing the necessity of first mastering the techniques of old masters and working from life. He sees his role in fostering a love for Tradition among new generations, evident in his involvement with the Círculo de Bellas Artes de Castellon and his efforts to introduce traditional painting methods in Thailand.

ที่จัดแสดงผลงานชุดใหม่ของศิลปินชาวสเปน อาร์มานโด พอนส์ ตั้งแต่วันที่ 18 เมษายน ถึงวันที่ 26 พฤษภาคม 2567 นี้ นิทรรศการนี้ถือเป็นนิทรรศการครั้งแรกของอาร์มานโดในประเทศไทย หลังจากจัดแสดงในประเทศสเปนมาหลายปี
แนวคิดของอาร์มานโดถูกส่งผ่านการสร้างผลงานดอกไม้ สิ่งมีชีวิตในตำนาน การใช้แสงเงา รวมไปถึงโทนสีที่ชวนให้นึกถึงหน้าต่างกระจกที่ประดับอยู่ในมหาวิหาธสไตล์กอธิค อาร์มานโดเชื่อว่าแสงนั้นเปรียบดั่งสัญลักษณ์อันศักดิ์สิทธิ์ที่แสดงถึงรากฐานแก่นแท้ของการสร้างสรรค์ และเพื่อให้บรรลุจุดประสงค์นี้ เขาได้ใช้กระบวนการสะท้อนของแสงผ่านกระจก รวมถึงการลงสีพร้อมเคลือบน้ำมันอย่างประณีตเพื่อคุมปริมาณความสว่างของแสงที่ปรากฎในผลงาน
